About Henry.
Henry Smith is an artist, sculptor and teacher who started his career freelancing in Melbourne before coming to live in Alice Springs Central Australia, where he works part time teaching painting, drawing, and sculpture at Charles Darwin University.
The move was initiated by the love of the ancient geological landscape of rugged ranges, vast spaces, water-holes, ghost gums, blue skies and red earth - a primordia land. It’s not surprising that this country became the focus of many paintings and drawings in oil watercolour and pastel. Before coming to Alice Springs he worked as a freelance Sculptor and Designer - creating many projects for theatre, film, public commissions, and Artist in Schools programmes - in a variety of materials. He also worked for the Melbourne theatre company and designed sets for Opera Victoria’s contemporary music season. Currently he is working towards an exhibition of paintings exploring the country around Alice Springs. Click here to see information about my latest exhibition at Araluen Galleries Alice Springs |
